• Distance & Timing: 136km to 141km; typically takes 5.5 to 10 hours depending on pace and rest stops.
• The Route: Traditionally ridden clockwise starting from Qiandao Lake Bridge or Xiushui Square. Ridding clockwise ensures you are on the outside lane right next to the lake, providing the best photography angles and direct views.
• Terrain Profile:
  • First Half (approx. 70km): Relatively flat with excellent road conditions, running along the scenic Chun'yang Line.
  • Second Half (after Fenkou Town): Marked by continuous, exhausting rolling climbs, steep ramps, and tunnels. The last 30km are particularly grueling when fatigue sets in.

Logistics: Traveling to Qiandao Lake with a Road Bike

1. High-Speed Rail (HSR) Rules

For cyclists coming from regional hubs like Shanghai or Hangzhou, or taking direct trains from further cities like Beijing (via the G47 train), arriving at Qiandao Lake Station (千岛湖站) is incredibly convenient. However, pay close attention to HSR baggage regulations:

• Cardboard Packing Required: When boarding or departing, especially at Qiandao Lake Station, transit staff require bicycles to be fully packed.
