Jian Shou Qing Mushroom Safety and Cooking Guide
Jian Shou Qing is a prized wild Yunnan bolete mushroom known for turning indigo blue when bruised due to natural oxidation. If undercooked, it contains neurotoxins that cause vivid hallucinations—often described as 'seeing little people'—and physical sickness. To eat it safely, you must purchase from reputable vendors, slice it thinly and uniformly, and cook it thoroughly with heavy oil for at least 15 to 20 minutes to completely neutralize the toxins.
